As students of Behavioral Finance (how people make money decisions), we've witnessed a trend toward self-directed investing and financial planning. Some recent studies point to the fact that a growing number of investors prefer managing their financial interests without professional assistance.
Not surprisingly, we think this approach is risky. We believe that hiring a professional to help you get and stay organized, hold you accountable for reaching your financial goals, and proactively watch over your assets is vital for long term financial success. After 25+ years of working with literally thousands of people on their financial planning we have identified six key areas where we provide value.
In part 1 of this series we covered how a financial advisor can help you:
Today we'll cover three additional areas where we provide value to our clients.
It has been said that “the best teachers teach from the heart and not from a book.” We completely agree with this statement because educating our clients is a big part of what we do here at Creekmur Wealth.
We believe that it's very important that each of our clients understands the type of accounts and investments they own. We want to be sure you know how each of your investment accounts is helping you move toward your goals. We also believe that it's important to provide balanced, unbiased information about financial and economic matters so that you can avoid being distracted by alarming headlines.
While it is true that automated investing technology may be able to perform important functions (we use such technology for the benefit of our clients), it can never have a meaningful conversation. In this age of technology, we still value face-to-face interactions with real people -- from the heart.
After 25+ years in this industry we have literally "been there and done that!" This familiar expression highlights that we’ve all been to different places and experienced different things. When we can say that we’ve “been there and done that,” it means we possess experience someone else may not.
To illustrate the importance of this, I’d like to ask you which surgeon you’d rather have perform a major surgery on you?
The answer is obvious.
In a similar way, we believe our tenure working with so many families has broadened our experience to a superlative degree. We’ve helped our clients overcome many financial challenges, reach countless financial goals, and weather various economic environments. You could say that this experience has seasoned us and the quality of the advice we give.
It’s a great feeling to know that a friend has our back, isn’t it? I’m sure you have someone like that in your life -- someone who is always there to assist you at a moment’s notice. We should all cherish friends and family like that!
We believe it is vital to have someone like this in your life where financial matters are concerned. There’s no denying that how well we manage our assets has a major bearing on almost every area of life. Plus, we’re all busy! We have jobs, families, hobbies, and other things to manage. Who really has time to sit around and watch their finances all day?
We proactively serve your financial needs so you can enjoy life without having to obsess over every cent. Let us do the obsessing!
Whether you’re still working to earn money or are retired and trying to enjoy what you’ve already earned, your time spent managing your assets will always be divided. But our time is not divided.
We spend 100% of our professional time watching over what our clients have entrusted to us. It’s what we do. It’s all we do.
